The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to provide aid to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down after a major charity concert held in the autumn. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The single blends a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the project have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure said. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the region was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
