It all began with a solitary photograph, possibly the most impactful ever captured of a member of the monarchy.

In the frame appeared the Duke of York, standing closely beside a teenage girl, while another individual grinned conspiratorially in the backdrop.

Lacking that snapshot, shot at a social event in 2001, who would have believed the claims of a young woman who said she was trafficked across the sea and obliged to have brief relations with a individual of the royal bloodline?

A curious, revealing move by someone who had overtly claimed to have no known about her, claimed he could no have had sex with her, and yet handed over a substantial sum of family money to resolve a protracted court action.

Over a Decade of Controversy

In this context, talk of the monarchy acting swiftly to sever ties with Andrew are misguided. This controversy has continued for the largest portion of 15 years since that picture, and an additional image of Andrew ambling congenially with a notorious individual emerged.

World of Deference

He was placing all that in danger in an time when deference and privacy is no longer sufficient.

Consequences

Eventually, the well-known indecisive sovereign was prodded more. There was no alternative. The palace had lost control of the story.

Currently the removal of titles and the ongoing and life-long social disgrace that will hurt Andrew most severely.
