Miami put up 86 first-half scores versus the Grizzlies

Miami Heat secured a crushing 146-114 victory against the Grizzlies in their initial basketball match since player Terry Rozier was arrested for alleged unlawful sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested in connection with a broad federal investigation into illegal gambling. The two individuals contest the allegations.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Upset' over Recent Events

Speaking about the arrests for the first time, NBA commissioner Silver stated he was "very upset" by the incidents of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the game," he told Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."

Silver further mentioned an league probe into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We investigated that situation and were open about it. Although there was the unusual wagering, we, honestly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA can't do.

"So, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they revealed yesterday was an charge.

"And two and a half years later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise here between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."
