Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those elements.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by having a different backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady trust and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the core of humanity through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our common bold, visionary sensibility to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
