Around Twelve historical items were ceremoniously restored to the Ethiopian nation following staying by a German family for over a century.

The artefacts, first collected in the early twentieth century by Germany's representative to the Ethiopian empire Franz Weiss and his spouse Hedwig, were transferred on midweek to the research center at the university in Addis Ababa.

This assortment contained headpieces, armor and canvases, each viewed as culturally valuable in the country.

"The items still represent a symbol of the long-standing and positive relationship between the German nation and Ethiopia," remarked Germany's envoy, the representative to the East African country.

Professor a professor, whose father was born during the family's diplomatic posting in Ethiopia, presented the items at a event joined by Tourism Minister the tourism official.

He stated that the household's goal to give back the items was to "showcase their appeal with the people and maintain the culture and past tied to my parent's beginning."

The items were either gifts or acquisitions, based on the household.

"I would like to express gratitude to Professor Weiss's household for actively showing their sincere appreciation for Ethiopia by carefully maintaining these artifacts and crucially ensuring their return to their proper nation," said the tourism minister.

The minister noted that the artefacts would soon be opened to the general audience for study and academic study, describing the action a landmark in safeguarding the nation's cultural heritage.

"Efforts are ongoing to bring back old items that are held in the possession of collectors and institutions all over the planet," the minister affirmed.

During colonialism in the African continent, many of cultural artefacts were looted.

The demand by the continent's states for the repatriation of stolen items has been responded to by certain progress in recent years - even if a number of objects are merely on short-term display.

Back in two years ago, the German government was the initial country to give back a selection of the renowned historical items to the Nigerian people as part of an effort to confront its "complex past."
