'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Await News After Alpine Blaze
The families of teenagers missing after a devastating inferno at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are facing an painful period of uncertainty for confirmed information and requesting any details about their children online.
The inferno devastated the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Verified footage depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.
Officials have stated that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 40 people and wounded another over a hundred. A spokesperson stated on Friday that 113 of the injured have been identified, with efforts ongoing to name the remaining few.
In the waiting period, loved ones have been posting on online platforms to plead for information about their friends who were at the bar that night.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For
The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his family.
The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but could not find him.
"It feels like a terrible dream, a horror. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she said.
She added that some of his peers had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they went through a terrifying ordeal."
The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that a number of of its nationals have not been located.
Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage sportsman, originally from Italy but now living in the UAE.
The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "talented young man who represented passion and authentic values."
His parent, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An representative has indicated that a official announcement of his death is not yet.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and found himself at the venue.
"Someone with him said they fled after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she said, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.
One of his teachers said, "I've always been struck by his good nature and positive demeanor, alongside great maturity. Often offer to help out."
Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to media.
Her brother has shared an urgent request on social media, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
Consular authorities from her other nation say they are closely watching the developments.
