A extended voyage around the Australian Coast is being halted days after the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with shipmates from the vessel, but parted ways from the excursion for a break. The ship departed without her and went back later that day after the ship staff discovered the woman was not present.

A large-scale hunt discovered her person the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, together with investigators and the medical examiner.

Head of the shipping company stated that passengers and personnel on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior technical problems".

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her loved ones was "surprised and saddened that the liner left the location after an scheduled outing without my mum".

Through her comments, she described her mum as an "vigorous 80-year-old" who was a member of a walking group.

"From the little details we have been informed, it seems that there was a breakdown of attention and common sense," she stated.

She further stated that she wished the inquiry would be able to identify what "the organization should have performed that might have protected Her life".

"We understand from the police that it was a very hot period, and mother took sick on the hill climb," she explained.

"They requested her to head down, alone. Then the ship left, reportedly without conducting a roll call.

"At some stage in that chain of events, or not long after, mother died, by herself."

Operator Response

Through an announcement, the Head confirmed that the company was "working closely with investigators to assist their examination".

He said that the organization was "very regretful that this has happened" and had extended its full support to the loved ones.

Maritime Business Procedures

The vessel accommodates up to 120 passengers with 46 crew, according to company information. It was purpose-built to reach isolated regions of the nation's coast and is equipped with "small boats" - small boats used to take travelers on day excursions.

Occurrences such as this are uncommon, and liners have procedures to document which travelers are boarding or disembarking, according to maritime specialists.
