British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
